Hashiba Iaito Katana – Tradition and Precision for Iaido
The Hashiba Iaito Katana is a premium practice sword designed for those who want authenticity, elegance, and excellent performance in Iaido. Hand-assembled by YariNoHanzo, this iaito offers the look and feel of a traditional Japanese katana while remaining unsharpened, making it safe and reliable for daily martial arts practice.
Inspired by the Samurai Legacy of Hashiba (Toyotomi)
This iaito takes its name from Hashiba Hideyoshi, later known as Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of the great unifiers of Japan. From humble origins, Hideyoshi rose to power through determination, discipline, and tactical genius. The sword that carries his name embodies these qualities, offering practitioners a tool that reflects resilience, refinement, and mastery.
Blade with Powerful Tachikaze
The blade is crafted from 1060 high carbon steel in the maru kitae style and includes a single bohi. This groove not only reduces the overall weight, making the sword agile and responsive, but also creates a strong and clear tachikaze. This audible feedback is essential for Iaido training, as it allows practitioners to instantly evaluate the precision of their swing and hasuji. Every movement becomes both visible and audible, reinforcing correct technique.
Etched Midare Hamon
The blade is decorated with an etched midare hamon, a wavy temper line that enhances the sword’s traditional appearance. While not created through clay tempering, the etched hamon is highly visible and carefully brushed to provide a realistic look. Combined with the polished finish, it highlights the clean geometry of the blade and makes the Hashiba Iaito visually captivating.

Handle and Fittings
The tsuka measures 27 cm and is wrapped in high-quality Japanese red silk, tied in alternating hinerimaki style. This traditional wrapping method ensures durability and comfort even with intense daily training. Beneath it, authentic black ray skin panels add strength and authenticity. The iron mokkogata tsuba provides both practicality and elegance, while seppa and habaki are finished in matte silver brass.

Lightweight and durable, it complements the blade’s balance, making the sword easy to draw and re-sheath during Iaido kata. Supplied without sageo, it can be customized according to practitioner preference.
