The Nobunaga Katana Iaito is a premier training sword from the YariNoHanzo Superior Series, designed for practitioners of Iaido, Kenjutsu, and other classical Japanese martial arts who demand authenticity, elegance, and functionality. With its distinctive weight, exquisite craftsmanship, and visually impactful fittings, it is a favorite among both martial artists and collectors.
Forged from 1095 high carbon steel using the Maru Kitae construction method, this unsharpened blade offers a realistic weight and feel without the risk of injury—perfect for daily dojo use. The blade includes a bohi (groove) that improves balance, reduces weight, and produces the traditional tachikaze sound during proper movement execution. Its shape features an O-Kissaki (long tip), enhancing its presence and realism during kata and form work.
Despite its slightly heavier structure compared to other YariNoHanzo iaito, the Nobunaga Iaito remains exceptionally well balanced, allowing smooth draws, precise noto, and natural transitions. The blade is mounted in a full tang configuration, secured by two mekugi (bamboo pins), ensuring safety and durability.
The tsuka is wrapped in black silk tsukaito in the traditional Hineri Maki style, reinforced with hishigami for firmness and longevity. Beneath the wrap lies genuine Samegawa (ray skin), giving the sword an authentic grip feel. These materials ensure comfort and control even during long training sessions.
Aesthetically, the koshirae is what sets this katana apart. The tsuba, fuchi, and kashira are based on a historical design from the Edo–Meiji period, offering a bold yet elegant silhouette. The fittings reflect both cultural authenticity and modern durability, making the sword suitable for both practice and display.
The black lacquered saya is fitted with real buffalo horn koiguchi, kojiri, and kurikata, enhancing durability and sophistication. Each sword comes without sageo, giving the martial artist the opportunity to customize it based on school or preference. A luxurious burgundy cotton bag is included for transport and storage.
Every Nobunaga Katana Iaito undergoes strict YariNoHanzo quality control to ensure a precise, balanced, and reliable training sword that reflects both tradition and performance.
