The Kimura Katana Iaito is part of the elite YariNoHanzo Superior Series, created for martial artists who appreciate historical fidelity, functional design, and professional craftsmanship. Inspired by the proportions typical of the Bakumatsu era (mid-19th century), this iaito is designed for smooth and precise handling during practice in Iaido, Kenjutsu, and classical Japanese sword arts.
Forged with Maru Kitae construction and made from 1095 high carbon steel, the blade is unsharpened, making it a safe and highly realistic tool for kata and movement training. The blade features a bohi (groove), reducing weight and offering the characteristic tachikaze (sound feedback) during execution—ideal for perfecting form and technique.
Unlike some training katana, this model features a standard-length kissaki (tip), in keeping with its historical reference. The sword is full tang, and the blade is securely anchored to the tsuka with two mekugi (bamboo pins) for maximum structural reliability.
The tsuka is wrapped in premium black silk tsukaito, using the traditional Katate Maki style—a battle-era wrapping technique that ensures a solid grip. Beneath the wrap lies genuine Samegawa (ray skin), with hishigami inserts to preserve the integrity and shape of the wrap even after extended use.
The koshirae (mounting) is modeled after an original piece found in a Japanese museum, with classic and understated fittings that emphasize functionality and elegance. The tsuba, fuchi, and kashira are designed with simplicity in mind, reflecting the serious aesthetic of late-period samurai swords.
The black lacquered saya is outfitted with real buffalo horn components at the koiguchi, kojiri, and kurikata, which enhance both durability and visual harmony. The sword is supplied without sageo, allowing each martial artist to personalize their gear to school standards. An elegant burgundy cotton sword bag is included for storage and transport.
Each Kimura Katana Iaito is carefully inspected under YariNoHanzo's strict quality control, ensuring optimal balance, performance, and authenticity. Whether you're training in kata, improving your nukitsuke, or simply seeking a traditional training sword with historical character, the Kimura Iaito is a reliable, refined choice.
