The Kamei Katana Iaito is an exceptional non-sharpened training sword, part of the highly regarded YariNoHanzo Superior Series. Designed for serious practitioners of Iaido, Kenjutsu, and traditional Japanese martial arts, this Iaito retains the full aesthetic and structural integrity of its sharpened counterpart — while offering the safety and durability required for daily practice.
Inspired by historical blades preserved in renowned Japanese museums, the Kamei Koshirae (mountings) has been faithfully reproduced to deliver elegance, authenticity, and performance in equal measure. Every detail — from the rich blue silk tsukaito to the buffalo horn lacquered saya — exemplifies YariNoHanzo's pursuit of excellence.
The blade is forged using the prestigious Soshu Kitae lamination method, combining 1045, 1060, and 1095 high carbon steel layers. Although unsharpened, the blade offers a highly polished finish, a beautiful visible Gunome Choji hamon, and features no bohi, ensuring traditional weight and feel in the hand.
Perfectly balanced and constructed with a full tang blade and dual mekugi (bamboo pins), the Kamei Iaito is designed to handle the rigorous demands of martial arts training while maintaining its refined presentation.
The handle is wrapped in premium blue silk tsukaito, presented in the Hinerimaki wrapping style, with Hishigami inserts and genuine black Samegawa (ray skin) — ensuring a secure, ergonomic, and traditional grip during forms practice.
The Kuroro-style black lacquered saya is crafted from natural hardwood and finished with real buffalo horn fittings at the kojiri, koiguchi, and kurikata, offering superior protection and an elegant, polished finish.
As is standard with the Superior Series, the Kamei Katana Iaito is supplied without sageo, giving users the freedom to mount the sword according to their style or school. An elegant burgundy cotton sword bag is included for storage and transport.
Every Kamei Iaito undergoes rigorous YariNoHanzo quality control, ensuring outstanding durability, balance, and aesthetic precision. For those seeking a true fusion of tradition and refinement — this Iaito is without equal.
