The Ishikawa Wakizashi Shinken is a beautifully handcrafted Japanese short sword designed for martial practice, collection, and display. Forged from folded 1060 high carbon steel, this blade is created by layering and hammering two different steel types—selected for their contrasting mechanical properties—under extreme heat. The result is a strong, unified blade with a stunning Damascus-style pattern, where each layer of steel is vividly visible.

A bohi (fuller) enhances the sword’s agility by reducing its overall weight, making it well-balanced and responsive. This wakizashi is full tang and fully functional, ideal for use in Kenjutsu, Battōdō, Tameshigiri, and Kendo-style kata. It is suitable for cutting medium hardness targets and has been built with real-world practice in mind.

The handle is wrapped in black cotton tsukaito over authentic ray skin, in the traditional alternating tsukamaki style. The sword features a Roku Mokko iron tsuba, and the black and red lacquered wooden saya completes its traditional aesthetic. The entire wakizashi can be disassembled and reassembled, just like historical Japanese blades. It is supplied in a purple cotton bag. (Note: Sageo is not included.)
