The Dotanuki Iaito Katana is a premium-grade training sword handcrafted for dedicated martial arts practitioners. Inspired by the legendary Dotanuki blades of the Bakumatsu period (1853–1867), this katana is part of YariNoHanzo’s Superior Line, offering exceptional quality and precision for safe practice in Iaido, Kenjutsu, and classical Koryu.

Forged using the Maru Kitae method from 1060 high carbon steel, the blade features a realistic polish and curvature but is unsharpened, making it ideal for form training and kata. A bohi (fuller) runs along the blade to enhance balance and create a satisfying sound during swings—important for timing and control in Iaido practice.

Built with a full tang construction, the blade is secured with two mekugi (bamboo pins), ensuring durability and structural integrity. The tsuka is wrapped in black silk tsukaito in a traditional Hinerimaki style with hishigami, offering a firm, comfortable grip and accurate handling. Beneath the wrap lies real ray skin (Samegawa) for added authenticity.

The katana is paired with a black lacquered saya, fitted with real buffalo horn koiguchi, kojiri, and kurikata for enhanced durability and elegance. Supplied with a burgundy cotton bag (sageo not included), this iaito maintains the look and feel of a live blade while being perfectly adapted to safe training.
