The Yamamoto Katana Shinken is a premium handmade Japanese sword, forged for martial arts practitioners and collectors who value sharpness, tradition, and authenticity. Crafted using the Maru Kitae technique from 1060 high carbon steel, the blade is clay tempered and features a true "Notare" hamon, offering both durability and a distinct visual hallmark of traditional craftsmanship.

A bohi (fuller) is added along the blade to reduce overall weight and improve handling. The sword is fully functional and battle-ready, with a full tang blade secured to the handle using two bamboo mekugi for enhanced strength and long-term use during intense practice.

The tsuka (handle) is tightly wrapped in blue cotton tsukaito using the alternate tsukamaki method, ensuring a lasting, secure grip. Underneath, real ray skin (Samegawa) reinforces the traditional feel. The iron tsuba, in a classic shape, adds historical elegance and structural protection. The katana comes housed in a black lacquered wood saya and is supplied with an elegant purple cotton sword bag. (Sageo not included.)
