Togakure Shinobigatana Special Edition: a distinctive T-10 steel ninja sword

A short, wide blade and an extended O-kissaki give the Togakure Shinobigatana Shinken – Superior Special Edition its distinctive profile. Designed with Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu practice in mind, this handmade ninja sword combines a 57 cm nagasa with a 14 cm O-kissaki, black cotton wrapping and a coordinated black saya.

T-10 steel and a genuine Gunome Choji hamon

The blade is made from T-10 high-carbon steel using Maru kitae construction and clay tempering. Its real Gunome Choji hamon is highlighted by Japanese-style polishing, making the temper line a defining visual feature of this special edition.

The blade has no bohi, with a motohaba of 36 mm, a sakihaba of 28 mm and a sori of 1 cm. Its full tang is secured to the tsuka by two bamboo mekugi.

Black cotton tsuka-ito with Hishigami

The 28 cm handle features black cotton tsuka-ito, wrapped in an alternating Hinerimaki pattern with Hishigami. Genuine black rayskin samegawa complements the wrapping, while the Mokkogata tsuba completes the mounting.

Black saya with genuine buffalo-horn fittings

The 73 cm black-lacquered wooden saya is finished with a koiguchi, kurikata and kojiri made from genuine buffalo horn. Together with the black handle and rayskin, it gives the Togakure a consistent, understated appearance.

This is a sharp shinken for appropriate Ninjutsu, Battodo and Tameshigiri practice by trained users, as well as collection and display. It is not an unsharpened iaito.
