The Nodachi Shinken is a handcrafted Japanese field sword inspired by the legendary long swords wielded by samurai on the battlefields of feudal Japan. Characterized by its extended blade length, this Nodachi offers an impressive cutting reach while remaining well-balanced and light enough for controlled training.

The blade is forged using the Maru Kitae method from 1060 high carbon steel, with a bohi (fuller) added to reduce weight and enhance handling. This design makes the sword ideal for Tameshigiri, Battōdō, and other traditional martial arts, offering a strong yet responsive blade.

It is constructed with a full tang, secured by two mekugi (bamboo pins) for maximum safety and structural integrity during use. The handle is wrapped in black cotton tsukaito with alternating tsukamaki over genuine ray skin (Samegawa), ensuring a secure grip and traditional look. The sword also features a Mokko-style tsuba, shaped for effective hand protection and designed specifically with practice in mind.

The black lacquered wood saya provides an elegant finish while protecting the blade. The sword is supplied without sageo, but includes all other traditional elements. As with all YariNoHanzo blades, the Nodachi Shinken has passed strict quality control to ensure it meets the high standards of martial artists and collectors alike.
