The Fuji Katana Iaito is the unsharpened training version of one of YariNoHanzo’s most revered swords — a piece designed not only for daily martial arts practice, but for those who seek beauty, performance, and historical depth in a single weapon. As part of the Superior Series, it’s crafted with the same care, materials, and finishing quality as its sharpened counterpart, making it one of the finest iaito available on the market.
The sword’s koshirae (mounting) is a precise reproduction of original fittings preserved in famous Japanese museums, combining elegance with cultural authenticity. Every detail reflects the symbolism and spirit of traditional samurai heritage.
The blade is forged using the Honsanmai Kitae technique, a tri-steel lamination combining 1045, 1060, and 1095 high carbon steels, creating a strong, flexible core with a highly polished surface. Though unsharpened, the blade retains a realistic appearance, featuring a visible Gunome Choji hamon and a bohi (groove) to reduce weight and enhance the distinctive tachikaze sound when swung — essential for Iaido and Kenjutsu training.
The full tang blade is mounted with two mekugi (bamboo pegs), ensuring stability and long-term durability even under frequent, intensive use.
The handle is wrapped in Italian leather tsukagawa in the traditional Hinerimaki style, reinforced with hishigami and layered over genuine black Samegawa (ray skin). This configuration delivers the best grip, aesthetics, and resilience for prolonged dojo sessions.
The saya is made of black lacquered hardwood, elegantly finished with real buffalo horn components at the kojiri, koiguchi, and kurikata, enhancing both durability and traditional appeal.
As with all YariNoHanzo swords, the Fuji Katana Iaito is supplied without sageo, allowing practitioners to mount it according to their ryu or personal preference. A burgundy cotton sword bag is included for storage and travel.
This Iaito has passed the rigorous YariNoHanzo quality control inspection, ensuring it meets the standards expected by advanced martial artists and instructors worldwide. With its flawless balance, traditional architecture, and iconic museum-based design, the Fuji Iaito is a sword that truly stands apart — and is available only through YariNoHanzo.
