Nami Special Edition: a distinctive katana from the Superior Series

Wave-themed fittings, Japanese-made black silk and a genuine hamon define the Nami Katana Shinken – Superior Special Edition. This revisited interpretation of the Nami combines the character of its traditional-style mounting with a sharp, handcrafted blade, appealing to practitioners and collectors who appreciate both functional construction and carefully finished details.

1095 high-carbon steel blade with a real hamon

The blade features Maru kitae construction in 1095 high-carbon steel and clay tempering. Its authentic hamon, highlighted by Japanese-style polishing, is one of the defining features of this special edition. A single bohi runs along the blade, completing its profile.

With a 73 cm nagasa and a weight of 1,080 g without the saya, the Nami is a sharp shinken for appropriate Tameshigiri and Battodo practice, as well as collection and display. It is not an unsharpened iaito.

Japanese-made black silk tsuka-ito

The 28 cm tsuka is wrapped in black silk tsuka-ito made in Japan, using an alternating Hinerimaki pattern with Hishigami. Genuine rayskin samegawa complements the silk wrapping, while two bamboo mekugi secure the full-tang blade to the handle.

Nami wave-themed fittings and black Kuroro saya

The Mokkogata tsuba, fuchi and kashira carry the Nami wave motif, creating a coordinated mounting with a distinctive visual identity. The black silk handle is paired with a black Kuroro lacquered wooden saya, finished with buffalo-horn details and wave-themed metal accents.

This Nami belongs to the YariNoHanzo Superior Katana – Special Editions collection. The sword has passed YariNoHanzo quality control.
