Takeda Shingen Custom Katana SHINKEN
The Takeda Shingen Custom Katana SHINKEN is a premium custom samurai sword inspired by one of the most celebrated military leaders of Japan's Sengoku period. Known for his strategic brilliance and his legendary rivalry with Uesugi Kenshin, Takeda Shingen remains one of the most iconic figures in samurai history.
This custom version is assembled individually after the order is placed, with a preparation time of approximately 15–20 days. Rather than being taken directly from standard ready-to-ship stock, each sword is prepared specifically for the customer, combining carefully selected components and traditional Japanese sword aesthetics.
1095 High-Carbon Steel Blade with Real Hamon
At the heart of the Takeda Shingen Katana is a Maru Kitae blade forged from 1095 high-carbon steel. The blade is traditionally clay tempered, creating a genuine differential hardening line and a clearly visible Gunome Choji-style real Hamon.
A Bohi runs along the blade to optimize weight distribution and handling. One of the most distinctive features of this Shinken is its powerful blade geometry: approximately 3.3 cm Motohaba at the base and 3.1 cm Sakihaba toward the tip. Despite its impressive width, the sword remains responsive and carefully balanced.
The blade features a full-tang construction and is secured inside the Tsuka with two traditional bamboo Mekugi, providing a solid and authentic assembly.
Japanese Silk Tsuka and Traditional Katate-Maki
The Tsuka is wrapped with premium blue silk Tsuka-Ito made in Japan using the distinctive Katate-Maki wrapping style. Hishigami inserts help maintain a precise and consistent Tsukamaki, while authentic Samegawa ray skin beneath the wrapping completes the traditional construction.
The combination of blue Japanese silk and the red Saya gives the Takeda Shingen a strong visual identity that distinguishes it immediately from conventional production katana.
Deep Red Lacquered Saya with Buffalo-Horn Fittings
The sword is housed in an elegant deep red lacquered Saya. The Koiguchi, Kojiri and Kurikata are made from real buffalo horn, a traditional material valued for both durability and its refined appearance.
The Takeda Shingen Custom Katana is supplied without Sageo and includes an elegant purple cotton sword bag for storage and presentation.
A Custom Shinken for Martial Arts Practice and Collection
The Takeda Shingen is designed for enthusiasts looking for more than a standard production katana. Its wide 1095 steel blade, genuine Hamon, Japanese silk Tsuka-Ito, traditional fittings and custom assembly make it particularly appealing to both martial arts practitioners and serious katana collectors.
Every Takeda Shingen Custom Shinken undergoes YariNoHanzo Quality Control before shipment to verify assembly, finish and overall quality.
Inspired by the legacy of Takeda Shingen and the legendary conflicts with Uesugi Kenshin, this custom Shinken combines historical character, traditional Japanese details and modern production consistency in a distinctive sword made for those seeking something beyond an ordinary katana.
